Best Smartphones of 21st Century

The race of being the best Smartphone is on, even Google,Nokia,Samsung,HTC,Micromax and others all are now busy investing in smartphones. But I ask What happened to the iPhone iMafia, the Android army, the BlackBerry (BB) boys and the Windows warriors? Where was that famous deep polarisation and devotion that borders on religious mania when your personal phone or platform or company is criticised? If you’re not going to defend your own phone then what else is there left to defend? I am truly surprised and did I mention deeply disappointed? I hope that was a flash in the pan, just a slow week for you – and that you’ll come out all guns blazing this week. Because it’s time to crown the number one smartphone in the world.

Tips and Tricks for your new Smartphones

Did you bought a  new smartphone but wondering what to do with it??

I also had the same question when I got a new Samsung Galaxy Note as a gift from Samsung. I was lucky that I got it just the day before Christmas and so Samsung was like a Santa Claus for me and  my Note came at afternoon and till the next day I was just looking around what to do with this new Smartphone.????

Then I started in a queue, listened music, then called my friend, then messages and finally end up with the most addictive thing GAMES....

But this was not it..I would have done a lot of wonders with this new smartphones, which I did later and discovered some of them, here is a list of 10 Tips and tricks for all of you that you can do with your brand new Android Phone..

1. You are advised to sign in using your Google account when you first turn on your Android phone. It means that you have to use the same details as you use while logging into your Gmail account. After you sync your phone with your Gmail account, you can access your browsing history, calendar, email, etc.

2. You will also get an option of taking a back up of your phone's data to your Google Account. This will help you in cases where you lose or have to reset your phone. You can quickly retrieve your settings with this back up.

3. While downloading a new app from Google Play store, don't miss out on checking the box that says 'Allow automatic updating'. This will allow your apps to be automatically updated to the latest version without asking permission. It will save your time.

4. With Google Map, you can store maps offline. So, with an Android smartphone in hand, you don't need to waste your data plan while navigating. All you have to do is when you are connected to Wi-Fi, simply open Google Maps, select the area you want to store offline, tap the three dots at the bottom right of your screen, and tap 'Make available offline'. This will do the job for you.

5. You can sync your Android phone with popular social networks like Facebook via the settings app, The more networks you add, the easier it will become for you to share stuff like photos.

6. Make the most of widgets available in your Android smartphone. Widgets are the apps that live on your home screen and help in providing real-time information like news and weather. Just tap and drag the widgets on your screen from your phone's Widgets menu and keep yourself updated all the time. Some of the handy widgets that come with your Android phone allow you to control Wi-Fi, brightness, and other basic functions right from your home screen.

7. Though Google's app store is good enough to serve you with great apps, but if you are looking for more, change your security settings and allow your phone to install apps from unknown sources. It means that you can also download apps you find on websites or alternative app stores like Amazon's. But we advise that you should not get carried away with this option in hand. Be careful because you are allowing unknown apps on your phone that can make your device more prone to malware.

8. Your new Android smartphone has a voice-controlled assistant called Google Now which acts like a search tool. You can use your new 'assistant' to remind you of appointments, find sports scores and get you directions.

9. You can manage multiple apps at a time with your Android smartphone. Just tap the key on your phone. It lets you juggle between open apps.

10. Wanna delete an app from your home screen? Just tap and hold the app for a second and drag it to the 'Remove' button.

Samsung's Galaxy Beam projector-phone

Samsung has released the new version of the Galaxy Beam smartphone, which has a built-in projector, in the UK.

The handset can cast high-definition content onto a wall or ceiling at a size of up to 50 inches. Its current iteration was first shown off in February, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

"It's the kind of device you won't find anywhere else — a high-definition projector within a standard-sized smartphone — and is great for people who want to watch movies, show photos to friends or need to give a presentation while they're out and about," Samsung UK and Ireland vice president Simon Stanford said in a statement.

A first iteration of the device was unveiled in 2010. The update brought a larger screen, measuring four inches rather than 3.7 inches. However, the device still carries what is now a very outdated version of Android, 'Gingerbread' 2.3.

The 145g smartphone runs the OS on a dual-core 1GHz processor, and also features a 5-megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory.

Samsung did not announce any official UK pricing for the Galaxy Beam, nor did it say which networks, if any, will be carrying it.

At the time of writing, none of the major operators' websites showed the Beam on offer. Various independent online retailers are offering the smartphone for around £400.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Samsung has announced it will launch a new Galaxy device at a press conference scheduled to be held on August 15. Rumours are the company is going to unveil its next flagship smartphone - Galaxy Note 2, which will come with remarkable improvements over the original Galaxy Note.

According to BGR and Mobile Syrup, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will not only be thinner but taller as well. The device is said to have a 5.5-inch display, as compared to 5.3-inch screen of the original Note. The Note 2 will run on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and sport a 13MP camera. The device is expected to be powered by a quad-core Exynos processor, the same as seen in the S III.
Rumors further suggest that the device will be shown off well ahead of the August 31 IFA event slated to be held in Berlin.
Rumors about the Galaxy Note 2 have been circulating for quite sometime. Last month, we'd passed along the speculation that the Note 2 will be launched in October. It was rumored that Samsung will pit its Note 2 against Apple's iPhone 5, which is expected to be introduced around the same time.
It may be noted here Samsung has remarkably grown its market share with launch of new products in the recent past. Samsung took the world by storm with launch of the Galaxy S II in 2011. This year the company released the Galaxy S III (read our review here). With the inclusion of the Galaxy Note 2 plus Jelly Bean to its arsenal, Samung will definitely grab on an edge over its rivals such as Apple.
