Free Facebook Access For Airtel Users

India's top telecom company by network is now providing exciting offer for all of its customers. Bharti Airtel would provide free Facebook access of up to 500 MB data per month for its pre-paid users till February 15. Airtel pre-paid mobile users can post status messages, upload a photo and do everything else on their favourite social network at no charge. Beyond free usage external links will be charged as per prevailing rates.

So again Airtel has come up with a plan that would make most of the users to switch to Airtel if they were looking for any new operators. Moreover the telecom company is known for its best Network throughout the country. Facebook being the world's best and top Social Networking site, its a good opportunity for all users to make use of it.

The Aircel has removed all its towers and removed all the services for Visakhapatnam. But Aircel was the only telecom which was giving the best unlimited 3G plans, its my personal opinion no offence.... But we would like Airtel and others to provide such good offers instead of giving only free facebook for a month.

With this Airtel will continue to gain more and more of its users and will be the India's top telecom operator and even World's top telecom operator.

Future of Facebook in Danger

Is Facebook becoming boring for people?? The answer may be Yes or No or may be...

But the figures shows that its becoming boring now a days.Britain lost 600,000 users in the month of December.

The UK saw the biggest loss of any major territory, the figures from monitoring firm SocialBakers show.

Experts today said confusion over the firm's privacy policies and 'Facebook fatigue' from having too many friends could be behind the fall - although Facebook has disputed the figures.

It claims the data is designed for advertising, and does not accurately show the real number of users.

'Some of these reports use data extracted from our advertising tool, which provides broad estimates on the reach of Facebook ads and isn't designed to be a source for tracking the overall growth of Facebook. 

'We are very pleased with our growth and with the way people are engaged with Facebook – more than 50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day.'

According to SocialBakers' index, the UK ranks as the world's sixth most active Facebook user base, with more than 33 million unique users in December, although the firm says that figure duplicates users who access from multiple devices.

The US tops the list with more than 169 million unique users per month, followed by Brazil with 65 million and India with 63 million.

The UK's user base would be equivalent to 53% market penetration last month, second only to the US with 54%. 

Experts say the problem could be due to 'Facebook fatigue'.

'I think a lot of the privacy issues have dogged them, and that has put people off,' said Stuart Miles of website Pocket Lint.

'It's just got confusing as Facebook gets bigger and bigger, and a lot of people are also fed up of adverts in their stream.

'A lot of UK people are a lot more worried, and only want to talk to their friends. People friended everyone when they signed up, and now they regret that.'

Mr Miles said the firm needs to reinvent itself to attract people back.

'It's about relevancy - they need to become relevant and useful again.

Recent data from comScore shows Facebook's UK monthly active users plateauing at just over 31 million between September and November, falling to 31,456,000 at the end of the three-month period.

The firm is also set to make a major announcement tomorrow some believe could be a mobile phone.

The firm has sent out invites to US journalists for a special event at their usually secretive Silicon Valley HQ.

The invites promise to allow attendees to 'see what we're building' - with online rumours pointing to a phone.

However, others claim it could revolve around new mobile phone software rather than a handset.

So it is clear that Facebook has reached a optimum level of users now and its becoming boring now a days. It makes the future of facebook in danger.

The giant social networking site Facebook is now all set to allow its user to call freely and it was all possible because of a new application in the app store named Plingm.

A new smartphone app named Plingm will now allow you to make free phone calls within your Facebook contacts without dialling even a single digit. Plingm, a Swedish mobile VoIP, has introduced free phone calls for Facebook's one billion users. "Mobile numbers are legacy. By calling friends with our Facebook feature, you can always reach the person you want to speak to even if they change their number", said Pandelis Eliopoulos, co-founder, Plingm. "With the growing use of social media, the possibility to call your Facebook friends directly without a phone number is a logical evolution of mobile communication.” 

Using this application is pretty easy. Download the Plingm app from the App Store and accept to connect with your Facebook account. The app automatically scans and imports all your contacts. Calls between Plingm users are free, regardless of whether you are in the same town or on the other side of the world.

According to Plingm, “With the numbers steadily increasing and an impressive consumer rating on App Store, the mobile VoIP app Plingm combines high sound quality with user-friendliness. All calls made to other Plingm users are free, regardless where they are in the world and there is no time limit. Join Facebook on mobile and get Rs 50 talktime

Wohhh it was great when I heard this astonishing truth that Facebook is giving Rs50 talk time to its new users who join facebook via mobile.

Facebook has quietly launched this new talktime offer to lure new registrations via mobile phones by offering talktime worth Rs 50 for free in return.

Popular social network, Facebook has started a programme in India under which it is offering new users free talktime worth Rs 50.

So if a user registers himself/herself to Facebook through mobile using the URL - m.facebook.com/tt, his mobile number would get credited by Rs 50. Obviously, this offer is meant for new registrations only and is valid for registrations through mobile only.

After registration, a user has to provide his mobile number on the Facebook Talktime page. "Once you sign up and confirm your account, you will receive the talktime within three days," Facebook said.

Facebook has currently around 50 million users in India, 30 per cent of which reportedly access the social network through their mobile phones. It would thus be interesting to see how many Indian users actually signed up through this offer. Also if it becomes successful, Facebook would have a large database of phone numbers belonging to Indian users who voluntarily provided them during registrations.

It would be interesting to see if any other social network would like to take the same route of offering free talktime or freebies just to register and join a social network.

Researchers develop scale to judge your personality through Facebook

Researchers at the University of Missourie have developed a scale to determine the personality of a person on the basis of how they use the social media site. The scale is based on various activities of a user on Facebook, such as status updates and photo uploads.

According to the University researchers, users who tend to update their status, upload images and interact with friends on Facebook frequently, like high risk activity. Those who just scroll through the newsfeed, are considered more reserved.

The researchers had developed the scale after conducting a survey on users based on their use of Facebook profile and taking a personality test. Those who fell under high risk activities category were labelled as “appetitive”, while who were more reserved got labelled as “aversive”.

Heather Shoenberger, who led the study, also pointed out a major difference in the approach of users towards Facebook. According to Shoenberger, those who are highly appetitive tend to engage with social media extensively, while who are on aversive side choose safer and more predictable media experiences.  According to Shoenberger the scale will help advertisers to reach out to the target audience with much more ease.

"I believe this could really help advertisers and certain types of media groups target potential customers with particular ads on social media sites," Shoenberger is quoted as saying.

"Identifying these individuals using the motivation activation measure can give advertisers an advantage over their competitors and bring some order to online advertising."
